Plan for Gathering for Worship

Dear Second Presbyterian Church Family and Friends,

It has been a long time since we have been able to worship together in person. Though we've been together in spirit and through phone calls, e-mails, and live-stream worship and music, we are actively making plans for when we can worship safely together again in the Sanctuary (as soon as possible after groups of 50 are allowed to gather indoors, when all of Michigan is advanced to Phase 5 of the "Michigan Safe Start Plan"). In the meantime, we will worship outside on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. For those who wish to remain in their vehicle, the service can be heard through an FM radio. Each week, at the service, you will be notified of the station to tune your radio. It is our hope to being live-streaming services in the near future.

When indoor worship services resume, we will follow the parameters set by the CDC, The Presbytery, and health care community to make sure the church will be a safe environment for all. Some of the measures that will be in place once we reopen are:

STAY SAFE/STAY HOME--if you just don't yet feel comfortable getting back out around others yet; SOCIAL DISTANCING--maintaining a 6-foot distance from others; wearing MASKS; TEMPERATURE screening at the door; using provided HAND SANITIZER; being directed by USHERS to and from our pews; bringing your own BIBLE, as they and the HYMNALS will be stored away for now to eliminate the need to sanitize them; MUSIC by Music Director, Michael, or through special music; no CONGREGATIONAL HYMNS to avoid projection of particulates; placing OFFERINGS in provided collection box; continuing suspension of CHOIR, SUNDAY SCHOOL, NURSERY, and COFFEE HOUR. A children's sermon provided within the service while the children remain with their families.

As you can see, our plans are coming into focus, and when it is determined we can safely congregate inside the church again, we will make that happen. We will continue to monitor and plan and will be in touch with specific time frames. In the meantime, see you outdoors on Sundays at 9:30 AM.
