Job Opportunity - Christian Education Director

Title:                                   Christian Education Director

Reports To:                         Pastor

Commitment:                     10 hours per week

Compensation:                   $17.00 per hour, dependent on experience

Seeking and serving Christ, we are a place for growing Christians. We are looking for a creative and energetic individual to develop and oversee the educational programs of our church to encourage the spiritual growth of all members. This position will be under the direction of the Christian Education Committee and the Session.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Children (Age 3 – Grade 5)

  • Oversee Sunday School program.

  • Assist teachers in lesson preparation and secure materials needed for classes

  • Assist in Time with the Children

  • Collaborate with pastor and music director to include children in worship

  • Work with music director and pastor to produce Christmas, Easter and other special services

  • Develop and oversee community activities (Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, etc.)

 

  1. Youth (Grades 5-12)  

    • Collaborate with pastor and Christian Education Committee in offering Confirmation class

    • Collaborate with pastor and music director youth involvement in worship (Youth Sunday)

    • Develop Youth Fellowship to encourage youth participation in the life of the church

 

  1. Adult

  • Develop and/or assist with Sunday morning Adult Christian Education programs

  • Explore options for additional or alternative study programs (mid-week, family studies, etc.)

 

  1. Nursery (If applicable)

  • Recruit and train nursery caregivers

  • Oversee the program

Qualifications:

  • Vibrant personal walk with Christ

  • A passion for nurturing the spiritual life of the church

  • Ability to relate well with children and youth

  • Creativity and willingness to explore new ideas

  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to work well with a variety of people, including other staff, volunteers, church members and community members
